Abstract

The management of Cahaya Desa Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in optimizing village assets has encountered challenges, with many assets remaining poorly managed and falling short of the desired effectiveness. This study seeks to understand the management of Village-Owned Enterprises in maximizing the assets of Sungai Raya Village, West Singkep District, Lingga Regency, drawing on George R. Terry's theory. The findings reveal that Cahaya Desa BUMDes has effectively conducted planning, involving all village elements, and adhering to Sungai Raya Village Regulation Number 5 of 2019. However, BUMDes administrators have not consistently fulfilled their duties, lacking a clear understanding of their responsibilities. Asset maximization has faced obstacles, with many assets not meeting intended goals due to administrators' limited understanding and inadequate community involvement. Despite well-implemented supervision in line with the organization's regulations, community oversight differs from that of BUMDes supervisors. Addressing these issues is crucial for improving the effectiveness of BUMDes in managing village assets.
