Abstract

South Korean cultural diplomacy has spread and become a phenomenon among Indonesia's young generation. This phenomenon describes the use of cultural aspects as a means to achieve diplomatic goals, implement policies, and shape a country's attitude towards other countries. Non-state actors are actors who play an active role in international relations, including realizing the goals of a country's cultural diplomacy, in this case SM Entertainment in Indonesia from 2017 - 2023. With descriptive narratives and explanations, an entertainment industry can play a major role in developing a culture which then has a major impact on bilateral diplomatic relations between countries. To analyze the research, researchers used the theory of cultural diplomacy and popular culture, which was complemented by the use of soft power as a research concept. This research uses qualitative methods and data collection through literature studies to examine South Korea's Cultural Diplomacy Through the Entertainment Industry: Case Study of SM Entertainment in Indonesia 2017 – 2023 as one of the entertainment industries that has achieved success and has had a major influence on bilateral relations between South Korea and Indonesia.
